Catholic Charities Washtenaw County Leader Accepts New Role “It has been a joy and a privilege to serve among so many dedicated people at Catholic Charities Washtenaw County,” shared Sunnie Johnson-Lain, President and CEO of CCWC since April 2024. “It is the work, the mission, and the staff that make serving others an extension of the beautiful work of the Church. I am blessed to have spent this last year guiding CCWC’s future, in partnership with our talented staff and Board of Directors, and I know those we serve in the community will remain well cared for going forward.” Ms. Johnson-Lain has accepted the position of CEO with St. Vincent de Paul-Baton Rouge beginning June 2. “Sunnie came to CCWC from St. Vincent de Paul-Cincinnati. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication, Christ-centered leadership, and the positive impact Sunnie has had on our agency and team members, and she will be missed,” said Nancy Graebner-Sundling, Board Chair. As a Vincentian for 20 years, Ms. Johnson-Lain considered St. Vincent de Paul her home over these years and is looking forward to making Baton Rouge home as well. “My time at CCWC has been a period of growth and renewal, as our team tackled rebranding the organization, strengthening our programming, and increasing funding through philanthropy,” remarked Sunnie. “This exceptional team will continue its faith-filled service for the benefit of the children and adults in our care. I am proud to have been part of this team.” The CCWC Board will begin the search for a new President and CEO immediately and has created a transition plan and interim leadership structure.
