LOVE IN ACTION

For over 65 years, Catholic Charities Washtenaw County has served its neighbors with compassion, quality, and empathy. Every year, CCWC's impactful services make a difference in the lives of thousands of our neighbors in need. Your support enables us to continue this good work.

About Us

Over 65 years ago, Catholic Charities Washtenaw County (CCWC) was established to change the lives of some of the most vulnerable persons in Washtenaw County and its surrounding communities. The organization initially focused on the needs of pregnant women and families, including the provision of food. Decades later, these foundational services remain active, alongside 16 additional programs, all sharing the vision of changing lives through compassionate service. Acts of mercy and love occur quietly each day, positively impacting the lives of both clients and the CCWC workforce that serve with core values of solidarity, empowerment, and sustainability.

CCWC’s model of care focuses on assessing all areas of need, providing care internally and/or in collaboration with community partners, to ensure clients receive services tailored to address their unique barriers, while leaning on their unique strengths, ensuring a holistic approach that addresses not just the challenge initially expressed by the client, but also underlying causes of the concern. Our goals in doing so are to help improve health and safety risks, reduce life in poverty, enhance community engagement, and to accompany people and families as they work to reach their full potential and well-being.

The work of Catholic Charities Washtenaw County is the work of the Catholic Church, which unequivocally denounces racism, discrimination, injustice, and violence in all forms. Inherent to our mission is defending and walking alongside oppressed, marginalized, and underserved persons within our community, promoting the dignity and value of every individual, and respecting our shared humanity. As a ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Lansing, we strive to live and promote the Gospel message of equality and justice, with the dignity and love of neighbor that is the foundation of Catholic Social Teaching.

We serve everyone in need, regardless of their faith background. We welcome volunteers and staff who would like to grow through compassionate service to our neighbors.
